IAPP Canada Privacy Symposium

🇨🇦 EDPO at the IAPP Canada Privacy Symposium 2024 Conference 🇨🇦

Here are some highlights from the Toronto sessions:

🤖 The importance of incorporating Artificial Intelligence Governance (hashtag#AIG) within organizations was emphasized.

📚 We explored building Data and AI Governance Playbooks, focusing on global obligations. Various AI laws and frameworks were discussed, with the EU hashtag#AIAct serving as a key reference.

🛜 A zero-trust strategy was highlighted, stressing that no entity, whether internal or external to an organization’s network, should be trusted by default to access, use, and share sensitive data.

📋 Insights were shared on executing successful hashtag#PIAs, with key do’s including starting early, gathering relevant information, properly defining scope, and being consistent. Key don’ts included not doing it alone and avoiding using PIAs as a marketing tool.

⚖️ The challenges of navigating multiple privacy laws were discussed, emphasizing the need to understand the definitions within these laws to effectively compare their areas of application.

EDPO was thrilled to have the opportunity to engage with leading experts in the field, exchanging insights and experiences. It was an absolute delight to take part in this enriching experience alongside all the attendees.
